I believe in God the Father Almighty; and in Christ Jesus His only Son, our LORD, who was born from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, who under Pontius Pilate was crucified and buried, on the third day rose again from the dead, ascended into heaven, sits at the right hand of the Father, whence He will come to judge the living and the dead; and in the Holy Spirit, the holy Church, the remission of sins, the resurrection of the flesh, life everlasting.
Written by the Apostle's after Pentecost [Reference: https://www.logos.com/grow/the-apostles-creed-its-history-and-origins/ ]
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6 NIV [Reference: https://www.bible.com/bible/111/jhn.14.6 ]
When we accept by faith the Trinity and Jesus Christ as savior, He writes our name in the Book of Life.
"And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire." Revelation 20:12, 14-15 NIV [Reference: https://www.bible.com/search/bible?query=revelation%2020:12-15]
Has your higher power told you where you are going after death? Jesus Christ was the only religious leader that was resurrected from the dead after 3 days in the grave and was seen and touched with the cross's wounds still visible. All others are in their graves.
Worshipping anything other thing than the Trinity is Idolatry. "You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God." Deuteronomy 5:7-9 NIV [Reference: https://www.bible.com/search/bible?query=deuteronomy%205:7-9 ]
Why is this important? Because even satan & the demons believes in Jesus...and shudders! James 2:19 https://www.bible.com/search/bible?query=james%202:19&category=bible&version_id=111
So, I am acknowledging the whole Trinity: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, Three in One. This is also done in the Apostle's Creed/Old Roman Creed and Jesus Christ as Son of God, Savior, and LORD.
God, grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time,
enjoying one moment at a time;
accepting hardship as a pathway to peace;
Taking, as Jesus did,
this sinful world as it is,
not as I would have it;
Trusting that You will make all things right
if I surrender to Your will;
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with You forever in the next.
Amen
Reinhold Niebuhr (1932) [7 years prior to Alcoholics Anonymous (1939)]
"AA's first step was derived largely from my own physician, Dr. Silkworth, and my sponsor Ebby (Thatcher) and his Oxford Group friend, Rowland Hazard. I refer to the medical hopelessness of alcoholism - our 'powerlessness' over alcohol.
The rest of the Twelve Steps stem directly from those Oxford Group teachings that applied specifically to us. Of course these teachings were nothing new; we might have obtained them from your own Church. They were, in effect, an examination of conscience, confession, restitution, helpfulness to others, and prayer." [Reference: https://www.prestongroup.org/aa_docs/Bill_Wilson_Oxford_Group.pdf ]
"Here are the steps we took, which are suggested as a program of recovery:
1. We admitted we were powerless over alcohol-that our lives had become unmanageable.
2. Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.
3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God AS WE UNDERSTOOD HIM.
4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.
5. Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.
6. Were entirely ready to have God removed all these defects of character.
7. Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.
8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.
9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.
10. Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.
11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God AS WE UNDERSTOOD HIM, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.
12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to alcoholics, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.
Alcoholics Anonymous Big Book (1939) pages 59-60
1. We admitted we were powerless over alcohol-that our lives had become unmanageable. "For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out" Romans 7:18
2. Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity. "For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose." Philippians 2:13
3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God AS WE UNDERSTOOD HIM. "Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God - this is your true and proper worship." Romans 12:1
4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves. "Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the LORD." Lamentations 3:40
5. Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs. "Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed." James 5:16
6. Were entirely ready to have God removed all these defects of character. "Humble yourselves before the LORD, and He will lift you up." James 4:10
7. Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9
8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all. "Do to others as you would have them do to you." Luke 6:31
9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others. "Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the alter and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the alter. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift." Matthew 5:23-24
10. Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it. "So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall!" 1 Corinthians 10:12
11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God AS WE UNDERSTOOD HIM, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out. "Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly." Colossians 3:16
12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to alcoholics, and to practice these principles in all our affairs. "Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted." Galatians 6:1
Celebrate Recovery (1991)

"Blessed are the poor in spirit." Matthew 5:3
Principle Two: Earnestly believe that God exists, that I matter to Him and that He has the power to help me recover. (Step 2) "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." Matthew 5:4
Principle Three: Consciously choose to commit all my life and will to Christ's care and control. (Step 3) "Blessed are the meek." Matthew 5:5
Principle Four: Openly examine and confess my faults to myself, to God and to someone I trust. (Steps 4 & 5) "Blessed are the pure in heart." Matthew 5:8
Principle Five: Voluntarily submit to every change God wants to make in my life and humbly ask Him to remove my character defects. (Steps 6 & 7) "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness." Matthew 5:6

Principle Seven: Reserve a daily time with God for self-examination, Bible reading and prayer in order to know God and His will for my life and to gain the power to follow His will. (Steps 10 & 11)
Principle Eight: Yield myself to God to be used to bring this good news to others, both by my example and by my words. (Step 12) "Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness." Matthew 5:10
NIV Celebrate Recovery Study Bible (2007)
I have completed this study and it is excellent! This is the "meat and potato's" of Celebrate Recovery. Join other recovering addicts in doing a lengthy, study thorough the steps.
When I began inpatient treatment of my alcoholism, I received "The Big Book" the smaller blue book shown. To the left is the original "Big Book" 1939 copyright of Alcoholics Anonymous. Of course, the true "Big Book" is the Holy Bible as shown! John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." John 1:14 "And the Word became flesh (Jesus Christ) and dwelt among us, and we have seen His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth." Italic's mine
